Intro To Scrambling
If you would like to start tackling graded scrambles then this is your introduction to the grey area between hill walking and rock climbing. Grade 1 scrambles are often quite straight-forward but grade 3 scrambles will have sections of serious rock climbing that you’ll usually pitch with a rope for safety.
Advanced Scrambling
Have you tackled lots of grade 1 classics? The next step is to broaden your skills and start taking on some grade 2/3 routes. For these climbs you’ll need a whole range of new skills because a rope and gear is essential to keep you and your partner safe. The climbing here is considerably harder and much more committing; you don’t normally solo grade 3’s, not the crux sections at least!
Alpine Preparation
If you are planning a trip to the Alps or a similar destination then this course will give you the basic skills you need to prepare for alpine climbing. We’ll be looking at moving quickly over technical terrain in big boots, likely linking some big classic low grade trad climbs. You’ll learn about short roping, moving together and short pitching. If you’ve got a particular goal in mind like the Matterhorn we’ll teach you about the skills required to summit big routes.
